TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Fire and Police Departments are once again teaming up to help collect blood donations for their second annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.
The Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition to see which department can recruit the most eligible blood donors to join them during the event. The blood raised during the competition will go towards life-saving efforts for local hospital patients.
“The need for blood is constant. By joining first responders at this special event, blood donors can help ensure blood is on the shelves when it’s needed,” said the American Red Cross.
During last year’s event, Terre Haute Police Department Detective Josh Loudermilk said the event was a fun way to help address a serious problem.
“We’re trying to use our friendly rivalry to get our families, our friends, those in the community, out to donate,” said Loudermilk. “Of course, we always have our friendly rivalry, at the end of the day, we know we have each other’s backs and that’s what’s most important and, so, we’re trying to have the community’s back here.”
The event will be held on Tuesday, September 30, and Wednesday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Terre Haute Casino Resort, 4500 E. Margaret Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
