PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A missing woman has ignited an intense search in Putnam County.
Her family is working, hoping, and praying that they will find Britney Gard soon and that she is ok.
“We’re frantically like searching and calling everyone to see if they have seen or heard from her.
To keep getting the word out to let her know that we’re looking for her in case she sees it or hears it somehow, and that she’s able to come home safe to us,” said Stephanie Bowen, Gard’s sister.
Putnam County investigators searched the surrounding wooded area and cornfields near Gard’s home on Monday, searching for answers.
“We’re very thankful and grateful that the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the community that has been helping share tips or any information and helping us bring her home,” said Bowen.
Gard, who is originally from Marshal, Illinois, was supposed to be at a volleyball game last week but did not show up. Then her house caught fire in what officials have described as a suspicious incident. Officials and family members have been working nonstop since then to find out what happened.
Gard’s family said she is a caring mom and aunt.
“Britney is someone you can always count on. She’s a very giving person. Loving person. She will go out of her way to like make you feel special … she just like doesn’t like to sit still. Let’s go play outside. She’s always trying to make memories with my kids. take pictures. … I’m at a loss,” said Bowen.
