TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local organizations got a new perspective on Tuesday on how to better help people in need.
On Tuesday, October 7, the Indiana Youth Institute and Griffin and Associates hosted a poverty simulation. The simulation was for providers and agencies in the Vigo County area.
The event took place at the Maryland Community Church.
The goal of the simulation was to help organizers get a better understanding of the barriers experienced by people living in poverty.
“Jobs are hard for providers, and a lot of times we have lots and lots of paperwork and that can sometimes get in the way of us realizing the importance, which is the client and helping them the most,” said Starr Griffin, Owner of Griffin and Associates.
Griffin added that about 100 people signed up to participate in Tuesday’s simulation.
