SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is promoting a new app that could save you if you’re lost.
Sheriff Jason Bobbitt said they’ve started using a new app called ‘What 3 Words’.
The app divides the world into 3-meter by 3-meter squares, and each square has a unique 3-word address.
For example, a section of Poplar Street in front of the Vigo County Library is titled, “Always, Preoccupied, Mouse.”
Sheriff Bobbitt said the app can be used for both first responders and family members.
“One example we thought of is that folks could give their loved ones and family members the three words of where their deer stand is or something like that”, Bobbitt said. “That way, if they don’t show up, they know where to go, or public safety knows where to go to look for somebody.”
The app is free and can be downloaded or used on any device.
