TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Dozens of local cyclists, made a journey from Fishers to all the way here in the Wabash Valley.
This is known as the Tour De Komen, an annual 100-mile cycling event to raise funds for the organization, in central Indiana & the fight against breast cancer. This ride started in 2017 and its CEO Kyle Vannoni, lost his mother to breast cancer and wants to make sure no one else loses a loved one.
This ride represents the strength as a community and a call to raise more funds for breast cancer research. The group had many stops along the way from sponsors greeting them with refreshments and food to fuel them through their ride to Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute.
“I grew up here. My mom passed away here, so it’s really important to me to always finish here. You know, a lot of people, they’ll always ask me why this is a point-to-point ride. It’s important. It’s a pillar of the ride, to finish in Terre Haute,” said Vannoni.
He said it’s important to not only raise awareness but also raise funds to continue research for breast cancer.
