TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday and Terre Haute Regional Hospital is taking part with its annual Crush the Crisis event.
From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, anyone can bring unused medications to the hospital where staff will make sure the drugs get properly disposed of.
“We have a problem in our country with opioid crisis and so the easiest way to obtain medications that aren’t for you is from a family, or family member, or a friend,” said Kristi Williams, Director of the Pharmacy at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. “So this is an opportunity for you to get your medications out of your medication cabinet and be able to dispose of them so someone may not get them inappropriately.”
There will be a drive-thru set up off 7th Street at the main entrance. Regional Hospital said they won’t accept needles, syringes, or liquids.
