TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Catholic Charities in Terre Haute have begun accepting signups for their Christmas Store.
The head of each family can come and sign each member of their family up for the Christmas Store.
Once signed up, they will receive a shopping voucher to use either the week before or after Thanksgiving to get clothes, household items, toys, and more for their families to open on Christmas morning.
There are over five hundred vouchers available for families in the area.
Catholic Charities Assistant Agency Director Jennifer Tames said one reason Catholic Charities does its store this way is to make sure that every family member can have something to open on Christmas morning.
“We also recognize the value that parents and guardians have as well in raising those children and how it’s just important for them to receive something special at Christmas,” Tames said. “We’re giving them hope, we’re giving them an opportunity to come together as a family and to celebrate.”
Signups for the Christmas Store will be accepted Monday, Oct. 27, through Friday, Oct. 31.
It will have to be done in person, and the head of the household signing the family up must provide a form of ID for each family member.
These could be things like a birth certificate, social security card, health insurance card, or photo ID if the person is 18 years old or older. Signups can be done at the Christmas Store located at 1440 Locust St in Terre Haute.
Signups are taking place from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, with extended signup hours on Tuesday, Oct. 28, and Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
