BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The holidays may be over, but a local group is able to look ahead to next year’s holiday assistance program thanks to a gift.
Guys Who Give Clay County presented $2,400 to the Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry Thursday.
The ministry assists local families in need in a number of ways, including through a holiday program. They provide Thanksgiving baskets and gifts to families who are struggling to make ends meet.
“They’re living paycheck to paycheck and it’s difficult. A lot of families have to have more than one job and it doesn’t take much,” says ministry director Scott Aselage, “a child to be sick or a person to be sick, or a car to break down or something to happen where you’ve missed a few hours of work and those bills are hard to pay.”
Aselage says they also assist families with rent and utility bills throughout the year.
