TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Large amounts of COVID-19 testing on a national scale have created a recent concern related to testing supplies, according to a news release sent by Union Health on Friday, including a limitation on rapid tests.
Many testing sites have been forced to change how testing is performed, including Union Hospital Terre Haute, Union Hospital Clinton and Union Medical Group Convenient Care Clinics.
Resources and protocols will continue to change, Union Health said in the release, as they navigate the current COVID-19 surge and critical shortage of testing supplies. As of Friday, Jan. 7, rapid tests will begin being reserved for the following patients until further notice:
- High risk patients
- Pregnant patients or within six weeks postpartum
- Severely immunocompromised patients
- Health care personnel
Antigen testing and send out testing may be ordered for the remainder of patients needing testing, the release said. This is a developing story, follow MyWabashValley.com for more updates.
