BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Brazil, Ind. police officer will keep his standing on the force after being arrested on drunk driving charges over the weekend.
Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham said Assistant Police Chief Dennis Archer’s “position goes unchanged” despite Saturday’s incident.
Wyndham said he took a few days to review all of the facts before making a decision. He took into consideration that fact that the incident took place when Archer was off-duty and was in a personal vehicle.

“I don’t think Assistant Chief Archer’s career should be judged by this one incident,” Wyndham said, noting that Archer is a 19 year veteran of the Brazil Police Department with a “stellar record.”
Archer was pulled over in Brazil Saturday morning by an Indiana State Police trooper who noticed “unsafe lane movement.” A breath test revealed Archer’s blood alcohol concentration was .09 percent.
