TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Nearly 2000 degrees will be handed out at Indiana State University’s Spring commencement ceremonies.
Friday’s festivities honored those who have earned their Master’s or Doctorate degrees. Names were announced one by one honoring each student’s six-plus years of dedication.
“It feels surreal,” Stacy Solberg, a newly graduated Dr. in Athletic Training, said.
Hundreds of students were honored from various departments including the Schools of Nursing, Business and Communication.
“It feels really good. The last two years were really hard. But, now it’s done and it feels like it went really fast. But, also kind of long,” Kara Trella, a now Dr. in Athletic Training, said.
Students like Trella and Solberg have endured many challenges on the way to this milestone, including the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual classes and others.
Solberg’s advice to anyone pursuing a degree or to someone considering it is simple, remember why you started.
“It’s kind of surreal. The past two years have been tough, but rewarding. It didn’t hit me until I was about to walk onto the stage,” She said. “For anyone else looking to pursue a degree from Indiana State, keep going, it’s definitely worth it. Just keep pushing.
The undergraduate ceremonies will take place on May 7th at the Hulman Center beginning at 10 a.m.
