TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you’re looking to enjoy authentic German food and beer in Terre Haute this weekend, you’re in luck. The 49th annual Oktoberfest is back.
It’s taking place Sept. 16-17 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. each night at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds Expo Hall.
Preparations are underway as the event organizer, the Terre Haute German Oberland Club is preparing food. On Wednesday, the club made German potato salad, the sauerkraut is ready and bratwursts will be cooked during the festival.
“We try to have an Oktoberfest every year. The only year we didn’t have one of any size was in 2020 and we had it under our pavilion out here. It wasn’t much of an Oktoberfest, but we are back at the fairgrounds this year and we would welcome anybody to come down,” Club President, James Burgess, said.
