TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Terre Haute’s leaf collection season will begin next week on Monday, Nov. 7 and will continue throughout the season.
The city will start the season by collecting leaves from neighborhoods running east to west. The areas of Wabash Ave. – 8th Ave., and N. 4th St. – N. Fruitridge Ave. (Including Phoenix Hills & Robinwood) can expect collectors first. The following week is planned to continue to northbound neighborhoods.
The city encourages residents to have their leaves “raked neatly into a pile” in the tree row or the city right-of-way, and to NOT rake leaves into the street. Leaves can plug street drainage and possibly cause flooding.
Once the first round of collection is done throughout the city, there will be a second pass “through areas with significant remaining leaves.”
*The leaf collection schedule is subject to changes due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.*
City leaf pick-up crews may also be working throughout the city (outside the dates and areas listed in the leaf collection schedule) to keep storm sewers clear. If you see any city crews picking up leaves before your neighborhood is scheduled, please do not be concerned if your leaves are not ready for pick up. The crews should return according to the schedule.
If you have any questions regarding the schedule, you can visit the city’s website here, or check out “The City of Terre Haute” Facebook page. For further questions, or to request another pick-up, call 311.
Weekly updates will be included in the article as the schedule develops.
