ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — In the aftermath of Friday’s tornado, the Crawford Memorial Hospital staff and volunteers came together to support their community.
According to Crawford County Board Chair, Bill Burke, Robinson, Illinois was hit by a tornado Friday evening at around 9:10 p.m. that resulted in the death of 3 people and the injury of 8 others. Due to the severe damage caused by the storm, the board declared some parts of Robinson a disaster area.
Public Relations Director for Crawford Memorial Hospital, Rebecca Rupple, said that the hospital is still working to sort things out amid the hectic event, but confirmed that there were patients admitted due to the tornado.
“One thing that we talked a lot about last night was just the incredible outpouring of support from the community. We had just amazing people who stepped up to help the volunteers, the EMS, our staff that stepped up, I mean you really see the best in people in a time like that, and it was really amazing to see,” Rupple said.
Brad Midgett, Robinson Illinois EMA Director, also confirmed that those in the impacted areas have been accounted for through direct contact or friends and family.
