TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A resource center for adults with disabilities re-opens in Terre Haute after closing in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Child Adult Resource Services or C.A.R.S. celebrated a ribbon cutting at its new location at 29th and Ohio behind the Meadows Shopping Center.
The organization provides a day service for adults who have a wide range of intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Attendees practice such things as daily living skills and health and safety skills.
They also learn to build with their peers and interact with the community.
“Just really excited to get community members out and really educate them on who we are, why we’re here and the population we serve and why we do what we do,” said Adult Service Manager Shane Gadd. “The community is great, very supportive, so to be able to get back here to where we can really just build partnerships and continue to help people and help organizations, that’s just what it’s all about.”
C.A.R.S. is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the organization also has a location in Brazil.
