The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office received a call that Jacob Moulton, 35, of Clinton, was trespassing and driving recklessly through Hillsdale.
Deputies spotted the Moulton’s vehicle driving southbound on Kibby Street.
According to authorities, Moulton was speeding, honking his horn and playing the radio loud enough to be heard a block or more away.
Moulton refused to stop for deputies, and led them on a 12.5 mile pursuit through Fairview Park, Clinton, and ending in Shepardsville.
During the pursuit, deputies said Moulton ran numerous stop signs and reached speeds of up to 100 MPHs.
Authorities also said Moulton had his pitbull with him, and that the dog was being thrown around the vehicle during the pursuit.
Stop sticks were used on CR 280 E at CR 1850 S at which time Moulton lost control of the vehicle and pulled into the yard on Shirley Street in Shepardsville. A short foot pursuit ensued before Moulton was arrested.
While in custody, handcuffed and seatbelted in the patrol vehicle, Moulton was able to unbuckle his seatbelt, open the patrol car door and escape. Moulton was located a few hours later.
Moulton was medically cleared and transported to the Vermillion County Jail for booking where he is currently being held on $10,000 bond with 10 percent allowed.
