Vigo County Fair announces full schedule

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Fair is just around the corner and officials have now released the full schedule of events including 4-H events, grandstand entertainment, and the artists you can catch performing on the free stage.

The fair will run from Saturday, July 8 through Saturday, July 15 with exciting events each day as well as great food, games, and carnival rides.

Returning to this year’s festivities are classic favorite events like the police vs fire demolition derby, professional truck and tractor pulls, and Friday night the stars of the Micro Wrestling Federation will hit the ring for a night of professional wrestling.

In addition to all of the 4-H livestock and lifestyle project events and the annual livestock auction, a number of other events of note are scheduled.

Saturday, July 8 will see the 5K fun run starting at 8 p.m. with registration open from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Sunday will mark the opening of the Vigo County Extension Homemakers’ used book sale which will be open from noon to 9 p.m. daily for the remainder of the fair.

Tuesday the Master Gardeners Tours will begin at 9 a.m. starting at the Raised Garden W.V. Master Gardeners Sign.

Wednesday has a unique and likely loud event with the Rooster Crowing Contest on the 4-H lawn at 11 a.m.

Thursday sees the Master Gardeners arranging flowers in the Community Center from noon to 3 p.m.

Friday the Master Gardeners will hold their Stepping Stones event from noon to 3 p.m. in the Community Center. There will also be a rocket launch in the south fields between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Saturday, July 15 will have the 4-H parade at 2 p.m. which will be followed by the 4-H Achievement Night on the free stage from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

There are plenty of entertaining options coming to the free stage during this year’s fair from 4 to 6 p.m. daily.
