LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Applications are now being accepted for those interested in succeeding Linton-Stockton Superintendent Dr. Kathy Goad following her recent retirement announcement.
According to Dr. Goad, the applications are now available on the Linton-Stockton School Corporation website. The University Superintendent Search Team will be accepting applications through January 19.
When reached for comment regarding the recent announcement, Dr. Goad said it was an emotional decision.
“Certainly, it has been with a lot of emotions that I thought about this decision. Time goes very quickly, at some point you realize its time to move on and have a life after the bell,” Dr. Goad said.
Dr. Goad took over the role of superintendent in 2018 after working as a superintendent for Tri-County Schools. Before that she worked as both a teacher and a principal.
“I’m proud of past students. As you work with students, and teachers, and watch them grow, they become a part of you, so you think often about all the individuals you’ve crossed paths with in the past, and wonder ‘what they are doing?’ some make contact,” Dr. Goad said. “I think of one in particular who was a student I taught who’s now a colleague of mine in as a superintendent in a neighboring school district.”
As a teacher Dr. Goad taught in early childhood education and family consumer science.
Looking to the future, Dr. Goad said she is excited to see where the district goes from here.
“”I’m excited for the future of our district and the students in the community. We have good leaders here, good programs here, so there is a good solid base for the successor to come in. I’m thankful for the time I’ve had.”
