TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute area residents have the chance this week to give their input on transportation needs in the city.
The Terre Haute Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (THAMPO) is holding a public meeting on Thursday. The organization is tasked with creating a 20-year plan to guide how federal transportation funds are spent in the community.
The organization wants to hear from the public on what transportation projects they feel are needed, whether that be street and road improvements, the public transportation system, or bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
“In any planning process you’re really looking to get the general knowledge of people that live in the area so the real benefit here is that they have a much greater understanding of the issues that affect them on a daily basis to give us that input that we can kind of program it all together,” Jeremy Weir, Transportation Director of the Terre Haute Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, said.
The meeting will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. this Thursday It will take place at the hub on the second floor of the Hulman building located at 900 Wabash Avenue.
