MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Mattoon is under arrest on charges of criminal sexual assault involving a teenager.
Officials with the Mattoon Police Department said James Lyons, 52, was arrested over the weekend at their police station. He is accused of having sexual intercourse with a girl on multiple occasions between 2017 and 2022 while she was under the age of 17.
Lyons was processed by Mattoon Police and then taken to the Coles County Detention Center. A judge ordered that he remain in custody until trial.
