WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — 2nd Update: As of 11 a.m. on Friday, officials have announced this boil order has been lifted.
Update: The Boil order in West Terre Haute and Toad Hop remains in effect on Thursday.
An official at West Terre Haute Water Works said they expect it could last into Friday as they await the results of some tests before they can drop the order.
Original: Water officials have enacted a boil order for some Vigo County customers.
The boil order affects all customers in the city limits of West Terre Haute, as well as customers in Toad Hop.
An official said the cause for the order is due to repairs that are underway to the pump system after a brief power outage yesterday.
The boil order will remain in effect until further notice.
The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
