TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Fire Department recognized the efforts of multiple members of their organization during their annual recognition and commendation dinner.
Among the awards given out were the Firefighter of the Year and Paramedic of the Year.
Taking home Firefighter of the Year was Terre Haute Fire Captain Jason Kane. Paramedic of the Year went to firefighter Scott Mellenthin.
The event is the 17th annual dinner for the THFD, and was opened by remarks from Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun.
A Union Hospital Trauma Award was given to Jeremy Jones for his actions during a mass casualty incident in December of 2023. Additionally, retired firefighter Richard Gallagher was recognized with the John Feuquay Lifetime Achievement Award. The dinner was sponsored by First Financial Bank.
