CHARLESTON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — An initiative to provide new roofs for veterans’ homes is helping out a Charleston, Illinois, resident this week.
Robert Broderick, Jr. is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. He is receiving a new roof from Central Roofing, which is an Owens Corning Platinum Roofing Contractor.
Owens Corning Platinum Roofing has a Roof Deployment Project, which is a nationwide effort to help veterans.
Broderick, who is a disabled veteran, was selected for the new roof through a partnership with Purple Heart Homes.
Central Roofing’s Project Manager Clayton Pforr said helping out veterans means a lot to their business, as they are veteran-owned and operated.
“We take it pretty big with our veterans to try and help, and push anything we can. Like i said, just being a veteran-owned business, our owner really pushes to try and help with all our veterans in need,” said Pforr.
Pforr says Central Roofing does projects like this for disabled veterans about once or twice a year.
