TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Firefighters rescued a dog that had gotten trapped in a storm drain in Terre Haute.
According to Terre Haute Police, the incident occurred at 1 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of N 19th and Ash Streets. Local residents had called 911 to report an animal in distress.
Police discovered that a dog had fallen through an open storm drain and had been trapped about 10 feet below ground. Terre Haute Fire Department then arrived on scene and were able to rescue the dog from the drain.
“Members of THFD Engine 11 arrived and executed a meticulous and successful rescue operation as they managed to safely extract the dog from the storm drain,” the post reads.
Police said the dog was uninjured in the incident and has been placed in custody of the Terre Haute City Code Enforcement for evaluation.
