VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A familiar feline species is showing itself in Vigo Co. again.
There have been recent reports of Bobcat sightings in the area. Fortunately, they mainly eat mice, rabbits, and squirrels. Indiana DNR furbearer Geriann Albers says that the same tips to protect your pets can also be applied to Bobcats.
“There is no danger to people from Bobcats,” Albers said. “We do also always caution to keep pets leashed or in a kennel with a secure top whenever possible, and that’s actually to reduce issues with any wildlife. That’s to prevent your dog from tussling with a skunk and smelling real bad, or anything like that, Bobcats included, just keeping your pets monitored, having secure chicken coops, we really don’t see many issues with Bobcats.”
