TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The West Vigo Community Center was full tonight as they held their annual Christmas dinner.
What started out, almost a decade ago, as just giving out baskets of gifts has turned into a gathering with Santa, toys, and, of course, food.
Guests could enjoy a selection of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and more while the kids got to tell Santa what was on their last-minute wish list.
The event was sponsored by a Duke Energy Foundation Grant, allowing for over 400 meals to be served.
The President of the West Vigo Community Center, Dave Elkins, says that Duke Energy helps them out throughout the entire year.
“Duke Energy has been a partner with us since we have been doing this”, Elkins said. “They come and help out, of course you saw Rick Burger, he comes and helps out every year with it. They support us through sports and other things.”
Some lucky kids came through the line to see Santa at just the right time and went home with a brand-new bike.
