TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Our own anchor Dana Winklepleck and General Manager Tim Sanders went out this morning live to show us the road conditions after this winter storm.
During this check-in, Tim and Dana checked out road conditions in Terre Haute during the early hours of Monday morning after a major snowstorm swept through the area. They were checking out Margaret Avenue near the Post Office to give an example of what a non-major road looked like this morning. Dana stated that the city of Terre Haute generally worries about plowing high-trafficked roads first before tackling secondary roads after.
Dana also stated that they had visited U.S. 41 South this morning and that road markings were not visible. They did report that there was very little traffic but what cars were out were traveling between 30 and 36 mph. As they passed the fire station on 1st Street they noticed the area also full of snow and covering the roadway.
The plow operators out this morning were doing their best but with snow continuing to fall roads were being covered after being cleared. Dana and Tim were also able to say that State Road 246 looked similar to the side roads and while U.S. 241 was better though still had coverage. For more information watch the clip above.
