TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – If living a healthier lifestyle is one of your goals this year, a local class could help you.
The Maple Center for Integrative Health in Terre Haute will offer a class called Turnover a New Leaf.
The class will meet five times over the course of seven weeks beginning on January 16. All classes will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Christway located at 2901 S 7th Street.
The classes will include meals, education, goal setting, and participants will receive a bag full of food items to prepare the meals they learn to make in class.
There will also be two private sessions with a dietician. Optional cholesterol and blood sugar checks at the beginning and end of the course will help participants track their progress.
Dr. Kathleen Stienstra, MD, is the Chair of the Board of the Maple Center and a Physician of the Integrative Roots Practice. She said the classes will teach people about healthier eating, exercise, and other factors that affect health.
“75% of the diseases that make us miserable later in our lives, that affect our health span and our lifespan are related to healthy lifestyle. So, what we eat, whether we move our bodies and exercise, what we learn about our specific bodies and how to best support them, if you address that particularly when you’re younger, it’s amazing the things that can take place,” said Steinstra.
The course is limited to 25 participants, so people are encouraged to register soon. The cost is $100 per person, but there is scholarship funding available.
