WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A pop-up clinic was held at Providence Food Pantry on Wednesday in West Terre Haute.
Union Health, IU School of Dentistry, and the Indiana Department of Health were there to provide basic medical care, dental care, and immunizations.
There were also people giving haircuts along with personal hygiene items and food from the food pantry. The clinic gave people in that area an opportunity to get care that they may not usually have access to.
“West Terre Haute is kind of known for being an underserved population, or people might want to go to the doctor but a, they have no transportation and b, they don’t have the means to pay for it, so that kind of helps,” said Sister Maureen Fallon, Director of the Providence Food Pantry.
Pop-up clinics like this take place every month at different locations. Next month’s clinic will be February 26 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Terre Haute.
