LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Natural Resources class at Linton-Stockton High School is now going through the Indiana Hunter Education course.
This is in partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The teacher of this class, Kevin Cross, said that it’s important for the students to know this information especially since they live in a rural area.
He said learning these skills will help them feel more connected to their community.
“Understanding what it contributes not only to the culture of our community, but to the economy of the community,” said Cross. “Having a better understanding of hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreation helps them to be a little bit more connected to our community and understand how to recreate safety while they are doing it.”
Cross added that the material in the hunter education course lines up with a lot of the classes core curriculum.
