TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Catholic Charities hosted its 15th annual Soup Bowl Benefit event at the Maryland Community Church on Saturday.
With the event, there is one goal in mind: raising awareness on the issues of hunger and food insecurity across our communities.
“It’s a huge need in our community,” said Jessica Murphy, the Development Manager of Terre Haute Catholic Charities. “This event benefits the food bank, specifically so all of the dollars raised goes to feeding the individuals in our community.”
The event only had 300 seats available, and it was sold-out Saturday afternoon.
For just $30, guests received one hand-crafted bowl and sampled soups from a variety of chefs and local restaurants.
Each ticket purchased for the event can provide as many as 120 meals for families across the area. All 300 tickets will provide over 3,500 meals for those in need.
If you were unable to make the event, you can still donate to the Terre Haute Catholic Charities Food Bank here.
