INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Monday was Indiana State University’s ‘Day at the Statehouse.’
Students had the chance to meet state lawmakers and show them what organizations are up to on campus. They also present research projects that they’ve spent countless hours on.
ISU president, Dr. Mike Godard said just over 100 students were selected to represent the university.
“It’s a great way for our students to engage, to learn a little bit more about what goes on in the statehouse, but at the same time, get to share some of the good things that they’re a part of at Indiana State,” Godard said.
Godard added that for many students it was their first time visiting the statehouse.
Stazia Kieffaber is a senior at Indiana State. She was grateful for the experience at the statehouse to share what she loves most about ISU.
“I love ISU, so being able to showcase all of the amazing things makes me really proud,” Kieffaber said. “I hope that they are willing to support us and see the way that we support our students. Like I wouldn’t have gotten through my time at ISU without the support,” she added.
President Godard added that ‘ISU Day at the Statehouse’ is another great example of experiential learning. A chance to get students out of the classroom to grow professionally.
