TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The United Way of the Wabash has named its newest Executive Director, Dorothy Chambers.
Chambers has worked at the United Way for the last five years and served as the Community Impact Director and, most recently, as Interim Executive Director.
In her past, Chambers worked as an assistant dean at Columbia University and, before working at the United Way, was the Executive Director at the Candles Holocaust Museum in Terre Haute.
She says this opportunity is a way for her to continue doing good work for the people of the Wabash Valley.
“For me personally, that I can be involved with an organization that has a really unique way of making an impact is very special. And I use the word unique deliberately because United Way, through its collective impact approach, brings together people from many sectors of our community, you know, business, city, non-profit, people with lived experience, subject matter experts, to come together to address community challenges from multiple angles,” said Chambers.
Chambers adds that none of the work the United Way does could be possible without the help of its countless volunteers.
