TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The east side of Terre Haute is continuing its pattern of economic growth with the addition of several new businesses coming in the near future.
Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun confirmed to WTWO that 7 Brew coffee, Jimmy Johns, Azzip Pizza, and a Quik Trip gas station. 7 Brew, a coffee shop chain, will be located next to the Aldi and has already begun construction. Azzip Pizza will go in the strip mall alongside the Chipotle WTWO previously reported.
Mayor Sakbun stated that the reason for all the new economic growth is through the various improvements being made to Terre Haute. Those improvements include infrastructure, right of way access, building permits, and working with developers to bring companies in.
IN an effort to continue the city’s economic growth, the Mayor stated that they are working on finishing New Margaret Drive, adding utilities to the street behind the casino, and addressing the four way stop on Margaret Drive and Fruitridge Avenue.
“I’m excited to see any part of town really grow,” said Sakbun. “For this particular intersection right off the Interstate, I-70 we got to continue to grow and develop out there. The city doesn’t own a ton of land out there, right. So, these are land owners working with developers to bring them in. We’re going to continue to create that ecosystem for growth.”
Sakbun also said numerous other companies are also showing interest in developing in Terre Haute including a new Qdoba location on the north side of town.
