BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Music fans out there, summer is here, and the Forest Park Band Shell will soon be playing host to concerts again.
The Brazil Concert Band is set to begin its 2025 season of concerts at Forest Park.
The first rehearsal will be on Tuesday, May 20th, at 7 p.m. at the park.
Throughout the summer, the band will play 13 Sunday evening concerts, starting on June 1st and going through August 24th. Each concert will begin at 8 p.m.
Director Matt Huber said the band plays a number of different types of music, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
“We play a variety of music including traditional American music such as marches by John Phillip Sousa and Indiana’s Fred Jewell, the Indiana March King”, Huber said. “We play traditional overtures, ones that you probably hear on cartoons like the Peasant Overture and Morning, Noon, and Night in Vienna, those kinds of things. We also play Broadway type music and pop music from all time periods. We even have a few rock numbers.”
The band invites anyone interested to join. You must be at least a freshman in high school and own your own band instrument.
If you are interested, go to the first rehearsal on May 20th at Forest Park at 7 p.m.
