GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — President Donald Trump has granted a Major Disaster Declaration to provide public assistance for 23 counties in Indiana—including Greene County— for severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred March 30 to April 9, 2025.
The FEMA Public Assistance Program provides assistance to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and certain types of private non-profit organizations.
The grant funding can be used for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.
Beginning August 5, FEMA staff, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, will begin meeting with public assistance applicants across the state.
Eligible applicants for public assistance must own the property or be legally responsible for maintaining it and should contact their county’s EMA for assistance.
