TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A violent sexual predator was arrested in Terre Haute after a woman noticed her home listed on the sexual offender database.
According to the probable cause affidavit (PCA), on May 2, 2025, a deputy with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office received an email from a woman who claimed to have found her address listed on the Sex and Violent Offender Registry. The address in Terre Haute was provided as the address for 38-year-old Kyle Wyatt. Wyatt was arrested in 2011 for child molestation.
The PCA states that the deputy made an appointment to speak with the woman. During the interview, she claimed that Wyatt did not reside at the home. When asked how he could’ve known the woman’s address, she stated that she was friends with Wyatt’s then-girlfriend. The woman stated that Wyatt had not been to her home and she had only had interactions with him in passing.
The PCA states that with this information, the deputy began an investigation into Wyatt for failure to register as a sex or violent offender. While doing so, the deputy noticed Wyatt had an incident with the Terre Haute Police Department on March 18, where Wyatt’s address was instead listed at a different address. The report of the incident stated that Wyatt had gotten into an argument with his then-girlfriend and left the home. The THPD’s report also listed that Wyatt had “possibly” threatened her minor child.
The PCA states that on May 15, the deputy had also received an email from an adult probation officer stating that she had received a call that Wyatt may have had contact with the minor child. After sharing that information, the probation officer filed a violation of Wyatt’s probation conditions.
Court records state that after the violation was filed, it became apparent to authorities that Wyatt had vacated the home in an attempt to evade law enforcement. In an effort to locate Wyatt, authorities spoke with the occupant of the home, who admitted Wyatt had lived there but no longer did.
Due to Wyatt’s status as a Sexually Violent Predator, he is not allowed to live within 1000 feet of a school property, public park, or youth program center. The address Wyatt had been staying at is located 233 feet from Voorhees Park and 427 feet from a local daycare.
Wyatt has now been arrested and is being charged with failure to register as a sex or violent offender, failure of a violent sex offender to possess an ID, and illegal sex offender residency.
Wyatt was in Vigo County Superior Court 1 today, where they set a jury trial for December 11. The bond is set at $10,000 with no 10% allowed. The court also instructed Vigo County Community Corrections to evaluate Wyatt for dual diagnosis work release.
