Ryan told WTWO in a statement that the company was “not successful in finding a buyer who wished to continue the manufacture of porcelain on steel cookware there.”
The company filed a WARN notice with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development in Sept. 2019, which notified over 80 employees of the potential closure.
Employee terminations began on Dec. 1, according to Ryan, with around 15 “mostly seasonal” layoffs taking place first.
Ryan says the Terre Haute plant will continue to ship product through April, and has retained a broker to sell the facility.
The company has been operating in Terre Haute since 1903.
