KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Joe Millspaugh is the incumbent Republican candidate for Knox County Coroner.
Millspaugh said he’s lived in Knox County for 22 years and is proud to call it home.
He took over as Coroner earlier this year when the previous coroner was removed from office. He said he wants to continue providing the continuity of care that his office has been providing since taking over in October.
He said his 13 years of experience in the coroner’s office and 22 years in public service qualify him for the job. He served as chief deputy for three administrations, and in that role, he was responsible for day-to-day operations, investigations, and training of new deputies.
Millspaugh is working to take a proactive approach with a distracted driving campaign, and if elected, he wants to work with the commissioners and council to find the coroner’s office a permanent home.
Millspaugh said he’s not running for himself but for loved ones lost.
“It’s truly for the deceased, you know. We’re their last voice. And I truly feel a passion about that, that whether it be a natural, unfortunately, a suicide, or a natural death, or even a homicide, it’s our job to come in and give them that last voice,” Millspaugh said.
The Indiana primary is on Tuesday, May 7.
